Fiddler on the Roof
Fiddler on the Roof is coming to town on its final tour with Topol, the original star playing Tevye. I've never seen the stage show but this might be a good opportunity. Tickets aren't on sale yet as the show is in August.

This is a really fantastic neighborhood/location.

Please spread the word if you know anyone looking for a furnished, private 1 br apt. (April 1-May 30, $795/mo includes utilities):

Maybe you know of someone looking to move here who needs a place for a few months?

Beginning Hebrew class at PCC
Hey folks, I was pointed to the Beginning Hebrew class currently being offered Monday evenings at PCC. It's $109 (ie way cheaper than local synagogues are offering) and apparently they need three more people to sign up by Monday or they must cancel the class. I unfortunately work during the class, but thought some of you might be interested or might know someone else who would be.

The Shondes are coming (Thurs., Towne Lounge)
The Shondes are on tour! Not your everyday queer, Jewish, anti-occupation band. I've enjoyed seeing them before on the E. Coast, and am excited for some progressive Jewish music. (Which I realize is not for everyone.)

This Thursday, 9/18 at the Towne Lounge.

Hi People
Hi People.
I am sorry I neglected this community.
Let's bring it to life.

I'm Ariel, I'm 25, I belong to Shir Tikvah. I went on Birthright to Israel this year and it was amazing! Israel is great! But there aren't any blackberries or douglas firs there, so here I am back in Portland.

Anything Jewish going on in town?
Introduce yourselves!

Hello all....growing up, my parents neglected my Jewish education. I am in desperate need of classes to get myself and my husband on track. Who would have reccomendations for classes? I am interested in Reconstructionist Judaism, if that influences your reccomendations.

I've been thinking about how a Portland Jews community needed to exist, and what do you know, it does. Hah!

I'm Zeo, not as yet part of any shul; when I wasn't working bizarre schedules I checked out Havurah Shalom in NW and I think I was a little too queer for them, and now Friday evening is my only time too see most friends as well as go to Shabbat services. I'm thinking though of starting to host a mid-week minyan for unaffiliated, less traditional (obviously) folks with weird schedules like me. Are there other folks interested in something like this?

Not ready
I am SO not ready for the high holidays this year. I usually start to prepare in August, but we've been getting kids off to college and it's rather slipped by the wayside. I'm also conflicted. I well and truly can't stand the services at my synagogue. I'm hoping that now we have a new rabbi that the services will be more inspiring.

hey guys!
I'm in Eugene but I get up to Portland as much as I can. I'm a little disenchanted with the Temple here and feel like I'm the only Jew under 80 years old in this town. I'd like to check out some Shuls in PDX and also get some info on Judaica shops, restaurants, etc!

Today, my auntie came down to spend the day with my mom and myself. She gave me an awesome book called "Haikus for Jews". Pretty funny stuff.

Let me share one with you.....
